Portugal will increase its direct support of the state budget by 100,000 euros. In 2021, the total support will be 600,000 euros.

This is an exceptional reinforcement, in response to an appeal made by the Cape Verde Government and which is also in line with the conclusions of Cape Verde's Budget Support Group, of which Portugal is a partner.

Cape Verde has been one of the most affected countries by the socio-economic consequences of the COVIDE-19 pandemic, particularly regarding tourism, a sector that has been the main catalyst for the country's economic development.

To deal with this impact, Cape Verdean authorities have been adopting a package of economic, social and health measures to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.

However, the persistent pandemic situation in the world brings increased budgetary challenges for the Cape Verde Government, particularly in terms of economic recovery, social protection and the strengthening of the health system, to which it is important to respond.
