A new staff recruitment process is underway for the External Peripheral Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, encompassing a total of 102 vacancies.

These vacancies arise from the regular annual recruitment process, which contemplates 95 vacancies, and from the reinforcement of the Consulate-Generals in London and Manchester, in the scope of the third phase of the Consular Contingency Plan for Brexit, which foresees the opening of seven vacancies.

The recruitment processes are aimed at reinforcing the external network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – consisting of embassies, consular posts, missions and representations – and provide for the hiring of employees for 76 posts, located in 50 countries in five continents.

One of the aims of this reinforcement of the external network is to improve the capacity to respond to the Portuguese Communities, with 86% of the vacancies being destined for consular posts or consular sections.

In line with this aim, the countries with the greatest number of vacancies also have a considerable presence of Portuguese communities: France (11), United States of America (7), United Kingdom (7), Brazil (4), Germany (3), Angola (3), Canada (3), Mozambique (3), Switzerland (3) and Venezuela (3).

Information on the opening of the competitions is available in the Diplomatic Portal: https://portaldiplomatico.mne.gov.pt/sobre-nos/carreiras-e-opportunities/careers-general#avisos-over-procedures-concursais-nos-servicos-perifericos-externos

The strengthening of the external network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues the investment made in hiring human resources for the external peripheral services, reflected in a 12% increase in the last five years, corresponding to an increase in 141 employees.
