The Minister of Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho, and the Minister of National Defence, Helena Carreiras, receive their Spanish counterparts, José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and Margarita Robles, Minister of Defence, for the first ministerial meeting between Portugal and Spain in the 2+2 format, aimed at reflecting on issues of common strategic interest in the current context.

On the agenda of the meeting will be the impacts of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the security challenges in the Southern European neighbourhood, the interconnection between the NATO Strategic Concept approved at the Madrid Summit and the Strategic Compass of the European Union, as well as the Indo-Pacific.
