The Minister of Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho, will participate this Thursday, in Barcelona, in the 7th Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Forum, which will be followed by the EU-Southern Neighborhood Ministerial Meeting.
The Forum brings together the heads of diplomacy of the 42 member states of the UfM - which includes the 27 countries of the European Union and 15 other Mediterranean countries of North Africa, the Middle East and Europe - and is chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, Ayman Safadi. In the morning, the Ministers will discuss the prospects for cooperation, development and integration in the Euro-Mediterranean region, also based on a set of recommendations made by young people.
In the afternoon, the focus will be on the potential of the partnership between the European Union and Southern Neighbourhood partners. Topics of shared interest will also be reviewed, including energy security and food security.
