The Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA), João Gomes Cravinho, and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Francisco André, accompany the Prime Minister, António Costa, on a trip to New York, on the occasion of the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
In addition to the work at the UNGA, the MFA and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation will hold several bilateral meetings with their respective counterparts from countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Highlights from the week’s agenda include the meetings of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union (Monday afternoon), Ibero-America (Thursday morning) and NATO (Thursday at the end of the day), in which Minister João Gomes Cravinho participates. The MFA will also be a speaker at events of the World Economic Forum and the partnership for the Atlantic Basin.
The Secretary of State Francisco André participates, among others, in the 7th Annual Conference to replenish the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Wednesday afternoon), in the Ministerial meeting dedicated to the Least Developed Countries (Thursday afternoon) and at the event commemorating the 20th anniversary of Timor-Leste's United Nations membership (Friday afternoon).
